Arthroscopy

What is Arthroscopy?

Arthroscopy is a keyhole surgery in which a small camera (arthroscope) is inserted into the joint through tiny cuts. This allows the doctor to view the inside of the joint and treat problems without open surgery.

Conditions Treated with Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is commonly used for:

  • Knee pain and injuries
  • Ligament tears (ACL/PCL)
  • Meniscus tears
  • Shoulder dislocation
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Joint inflammation
  • Cartilage damage

Benefits of Arthroscopy

  • Minimally invasive procedure
  • Smaller cuts and less pain
  • Faster recovery time
  • Short hospital stay
  • Reduced risk of infection
  • Quick return to daily activities

Procedure Overview

During arthroscopy:

  1. Small incisions are made near the joint
  2. A tiny camera is inserted
  3. The joint is examined on a screen
  4. Surgical tools are used to repair damage
  5. Incisions are closed with minimal stitches
